ANGLICAN PROVINCE OF ABUJA VISITS IBRU CENTRE

It was a nostalgia reminiscence of seminary days when the Senior Clergy of the Anglican Ecclesiastical Province of Abuja gathered at the Ibru International Ecumenical Centre, Agbarha-Otor, Delta State last weekend, 4th to 8th, October, 2011 for their first joint retreat.
The Province of Abuja comprises Dioceses of Abuja, Kubwa, Lafia, Kafachan, Gboko, Otukpo, Makurdi, Gwagwalada, Zonkwa, Kwor, Zaki – Biam and has the Primate of the Church of Nigeria Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh as the Archbishop.
In his address to the senior clergy, the Primate expressed delight that the conference has come to stay. He said it shall be a more regular exercise and expressed the desire that new ideas will be passed on to participants to further boost the wealth of their experience.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, the Rt. Rev. Duke T. Akamisoko, Bishop , Diocese of Kubwa told participants that they were in the conference for a “real school” – that is they were in for a refresher’s course. Other members of the Planning Committee were Ven. Dr. Princewill Ireoba – Secretary, Ven. Ben Idume, Treasurer and others. Speakers at plenary sessions included Rt. Rev. Prof. John Akao who spoke in the theme “You have dwelth long on this mountain Deut. 1:6, and Rt. Rev. Christian Ide (Bishop of Warri Diocese) who spoke on the topic “The senior clergy and his assistant in ministry”.
Other speakers at seminars were Rt. Rev. David K. Bello – the Clergyman and his family, Ven. Rex Eze – Charismatic trends and the authority of scriptures, Ven. Prof. Tius Gyse – Mission and evangelism and financing church projects while Bishop Akamisoko spoke on the clergyman his appearance/church habits and vestments.
The retreat which started on the 4th ended on the 8th of October on a happy note.
