KNIGHTS OF DIOCESE OF OKRIKA HOLDS RETREAT AT IBRU CENTRE

Over 50 members of the Okrika Council of Knights and Ladies of the Diocese of Okrika (Anglican Communion) held their annual retreat at the Ibru Ecumenical Retreat Centre, Agbarha-Otor on Wednesday 25th to Saturday 28th July.
The retreat was led by the President of the Council of Knights, Sir Daibi Gbasibo Selema and facilitated by the Chaplain of the Knights in the Diocese, Rev. Canon Enoch Atuboyedia.
The retreat had its theme as: ‘a weekend with the Holy Spirit on the Word of God’ and was highly inspirational as different topics of importance to the Christian race such as Regeneration, The Church, The Glory of God, The Word of God, The Inspiration and Authority of Scripture were covered in the course of the retreat.
In his opening devotional homily drawn from Mark 10:45, Atuboyedia said that while it is good that we expect to have the positive sides of God’s blessings Christians should also be ready to suffer persecutions whenever it comes their ways.
The Rector of the Centre, Ven. Ernest Onuoha as well as the Chaplain, Rev. Canon Gabriel Kpagban was on ground to receive the retreatants on behalf of the Centre.
As part of the closing ceremony, the Knights:
- Called on all people everywhere to be born again and be regenerated so as to serve God and humanity in love;
- Called on all to shun sin and be separated from unrighteousness and from worldly immoralities and stand as a community resolved to have a personal relationship with God.
- Called on all to pray always so that God will deliver people from Satan’s dominion.
- Called on all to live their lives to the glory of God also that the glory of God would be radiated in their lives every day. They also prayed for revival to break forth in their Diocese and indeed the entire nation.
They group appreciated the Bishop of the Diocese Rt Rev. Tubokesemie R. Abere for the encouragement he had always given to them and the staff of Ibru Centre for the hospitality shown to them during the retreat. The retreat came to an end on Saturday, July 28th after a Holy Communion Service.
