IBRU CENTRE STAFF, OTHERS REMEMBER FOUNDER, ALEX
REV. CANON GABRIEL KPAGBAN
STAFF and well wishers gathered at St Peter’s Chapel of the Ibru International Ecumenical Centre, Agbarha-Otor, Delta State on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 for a service in remembrance of Founder and Patron, Dr. Alexander Uruemu Ibru.
The event started at 10am and was presided by Chaplain of the Centre, Rev. Canon Gabriel Kpagban.
In his sermon, taken from Hebrews 6:10-12, Kpagban spoke on the life of the late Alex, describing him as a man whose faith in God stems from a deep-seated conviction about the purpose of life and man’s relationship with his Creator.
During the service, scriptural readings were made from Psalms 39, Romans 14v7-12, and I Corinthians 15v20-26.
In a tribute, Mr. Simeon Ibebuike, a long serving staff at the Centre said: “Alex was a man with a humble heart and love for his people; he was ready to work with people of all extraction. He was a man with great passion for cleanliness. And that was why he liked to use the word, ‘impeccable’.
Also, Mr. Sunny Ugugwa, manager in Mr. Goodie Ibru’s estate, described the late Alex as an amiable man who loved hard work.
Mr. Kenneth Kesiena Ibru represented the Ibru family. He thanked the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) for organising the service. He also commended the effort of the Church at sustaining the Alex Ibru vision.
