OUR state of health is God’s priority as clearly stated by elder John: ‘beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth,’ III Jh 1v2. Although this passage is also used by those who fan prosperity gospel but our concern is God’s interest in His people’s health.

It is in this light that we can appreciate the message for today from Prophet Jeremiah. At that time, the condition Israel and Judah found themselves was a pitiable one. There were Panic and terror in the land to the point that people became sick and they needed to be restored by none other than God. Through Prophet Jeremiah, God’s concern for the spiritual state of His people became manifest. For God had said: ‘I will restore health unto thee and I will heal thee of thy wounds.’

By this action, Israel and Judah received God’s intervention in their situation. This clearly now became a pointer of how God values those who are His. Yes, there was terror and panic but God’s intervention gave hope to their precarious situation. Today, believers are benefactors of God’s benevolence. It is true in the world; humanity is faced with a catalogue of endless sicknesses. Most times these sicknesses tend to defy solutions and often times; they make people to spend money. What people pass through in such situations are better felt than imagined.

Someone in desperation may have a feeling of abandonment but God does not abandon His own. Through the death of Christ and by his healing, believers today receive healing.

People of God, I may not know what you are passing through or how long you have been in that situation. However, by the grace of God I have a message of hope for you and your situation. No matter how hurting or deep the wound may be, God says: ‘I will restore health unto thee and I will heal thee of thy wounds.’ He was the one that says: ‘come unto me all ye that are heavy laden and I will give you rest’, Matt. 11v28. The invitation has been given by God to us; it is now left for the child of God to trust and respond to it. Do not allow this great invitation to pass you by, God will heal you, He will restore you, claim it by faith today even as you go (surrender) to God in prayers with thanksgiving in your heart, Philippians 4v6.
