DIOCESE OF ABA NGWA NORTH HOLDS RETREAT

BY

REV. CANON GABRIEL KPAGBAN

THE Diocese of Aba Ngwa North held its clergy and wives retreat at the Ibru International Ecumenical Centre, Agbarha-Otor, Delta State on April 1-5, 2013.

Aba Ngwa North is located in the Anglican Ecclesiastical Province of Aba in Abia State.

Bishop of the Diocese, Rt Rev. Nathan C. O. Kanu, and his wife, Princess (Mrs.) Oduonyenfe, led the retreat. The theme was: ‘Hunger and thirst for righteousness’ (Matt. 5:6).

Highlights of the event, attended by over 102 persons, included inspirational messages by the Bishop and his wife. Pastor Emeka Chiemenam and his wife led the marriage seminar. Another seminar on health was taken care of by Sir and Lady Geoffrey Nkoro.

The retreat urged participants to note that satisfaction in life is achievable when their lives are right before God, and also that spiritual and physical wellbeing of clergy and wives are key to effective discharge of duties.

The retreat called on the Federal Government to find lasting solution to insecurity. It rejected calls for amnesty to be granted the Boko Haram sect. The retreat also expressed gratitude to the Diocesan Bishop and his wife for efforts at training and re-training clergy and wives.
