BISHOPS’ TRAINING SCHOOL OPENS AT IBRU CENTRE

Over 40 Anglican bishops and their wives presently gathered at the Church of Nigeria Bishops training school 2011 at the Ibru retreat centre, Agbarha-Otor, Delta State which began on 26th June and is expected to end on July 6th. The training is expected to be in batches.
The Rector of the Centre, Ven. Ernest Onuoha and the Chaplain of the Centre, Rev. Canon Gabriel Kpagban featured at the opening Eucharist Service on Monday, 27th June.
The training is being co-ordinated by Rt. Rev. Ken S. E. Okeke and his wife Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Okeke on behalf of the Church of Nigeria. Some resource persons expected at the retreat are Bishop David Onuoha, Bishop Ogu (rtd), Bishop Tunde Popoola, Very Revd. Dr. Emmanuel Ekpunobi and Sir Afam Anene.
The curriculum of the school include listening skills, I.C.T, political awareness, mission and the Diocese, Pastoral Care, Accountability, Goal Setting (Vision), International Relations, Canon Law/Constitution and Pastoral Counselling, Recruitment/Training on Record Keeping.
There were seminars on Millennium Development Goals (MDG), and Self-reliance. Time was also set apart for prayers both for the nation, the church and for all. Among those in attendance were the former Rector of the Centre, Bishop Abraham Akinlalu and his wife Mrs. Grace Akinlalu. The retreat is expected to end on Wednesday, July 6.
