LOCAL CHRISTIAN ASSEMBLY CHURCH RETREAT AT IBRU CENTRE
REV. CANON GABRIEL KPAGBAN
IT was a time of refreshing in the presence of the Lord, as young people gathered at the Ibru Centre, Agbarha-Otor, for a three-day retreat organised by youths of the Local Christian Assembly Church, Warri.
They came hungering, thirsting and expecting a visitation from the Lord. And at what better place could they have gathered but the welcoming and serene environment of the International Ecumenical Retreat Centre.
The atmosphere was charged with the presence of God. It was like the day of Pentecost. The Friday service started with a blast. Over 180 young people, with one heart, lifted up their voices in praise, worship and singing to the risen Lord. Some shed tears of joy. The service went late into the night.
People were desperate to have an encounter with the Lord, especially after a stirring message by Bro. Samuel Osamuede, a minister from Agbor. He titled it: ‘The Manifested Presence of Michael: The Anointing to Conquer and Possess Our Inheritance’. This was accompanied by a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Saturday morning’s devotion was anchored by Rev. John Ugwu from Owerri. It was a time for re-dedication and consecration.
The youths had outdoor activities under the watchful eyes of Rev. Abraham Ogome, the host pastor. If featured sack race, egg and spoon race, three-legged race, filling the basket with footballs, seven thunder races. It was fun all the way.
There was an evening service, which featured testimonies, drama, recitations, quiz, worship and praises.
Host Pastor, Rev. Abraham Ogome, delivered the parting message: ‘The Continuation of the Ministry of Jesus Christ’.
Words would fail to describe the joy that overflowed hearts, as they shouted, sang, worshipped and praised Christ whose presence was felt throughout the three days the retreat lasted.
